Super middleweight contender Diego Pacheco has reportedly signed a “multi-fight deal” with Matchroom Boxing. To celebrate his new deal, he will fight Manuel Gallegos on DAZN in Monterrey, Mexico on July 7, 2023. The winner of the bout will take home the WBO International Super Middleweight Championship and the USWBC Super Middleweight Championship.
“I am very happy and excited to be extending my deal with Matchroom,” Pacheco said.
“We have been on the path to the top for nearly five years and I couldn’t be in a better place to achieve my goals – to become World champion, to be unified and undisputed, and to be a role model for young kids in LA and Mexico to chase their dreams.”
Pacheco is one of the fastest-rising stars in the super middleweight division. At 22 years old, he has put together a record of 18-0 with 15 knockouts. In March, he headlined his first Matchroom Boxing event in Liverpool, England. He battered his opponent, Jack Cullen, en route to a fourth-round stoppage victory. With a win against Manuel Gallegos, he will move one step closer to challenging Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for the undisputed super middleweight title.
“I’m so happy to be headlining in Mexico on July 7. It will be a good fight against the #2 ranked Super-Middleweight in Mexico,” Pacheco continued.
“When I win, I’ll be one step closer to getting to that World title shot.”
