In a post on social media, Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr pinned his goodbye letter to the franchise. This comes two weeks after Head Coach Josh McDaniels benched the starting quarterback for Jarrett Stidham for the final two games in the regular season. Las Vegas missed the 2022-23 NFL Playoffs after high expectations heading into the season with major offseason additions to the roster. Carr is still under contract with the team next season and a trade or cut seems even more likely now with this post from Carr on social media.

In his career with the Las Vegas Raiders, Derek Carr completed 3,201 passes for 35,222 yards, 217 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions on 4,958 attempts. He also rushed the ball 278 times for 845 yards and six rushing touchdowns in his career. Carr holds the franchise record for passing yards, passing touchdowns, fourth-quarter comebacks, game-winning drives, and starts by a quarterback. He is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in the history of the franchise but never could capture success for a playoff run. With the many head coaching changes Carr also lacked consistency with the franchise.
Carr is owed $40 million next season, but will likely have teams interested in him for next season. Trades can not become official until March 15th, but teams will be able to negotiate before that date. The end of an era for both Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders.
