Early in the free agency period, the Packers used the franchise tag on Adams but the five-time Pro-Bowler informed the team that he wasn’t going to play under the tag. Adams wanted a long-term deal and the Packers cap space was an obstacle for that.
Adams will receive an average salary of $28.25 million which surpasses DeAndre Hopkins for the highest-paid wide receiver in the league. Now, the Packers will need to search the market to replace his production in the offense.
Last season, Adams caught 123 passes for 1553 receiving yards, third in the league, and 11 touchdowns to earn a selection to the Pro-Bowl and the first team All-Pro.
