It’s official! Demetrius Andrade is moving up to the super middleweight division in hopes of capturing another title in a different weight class. First, he must get by undefeated, power puncher Zach Parker in an interim WBO super middleweight title fight. Random Hits of Boxing Scene reports that Parker and Andrade will share the ring on May 21, 2022 at Pride Park Stadium in the United Kingdom.
Parker enters the fight as the clear underdog. He’s earned 16 knockout victories in his first 22 pro fights and established a reputation as a strong finisher. His opponent, Demetrius Andrade, is not known as a power puncher, but he is far more experienced. The 34-year-old fighter has represented the U.S. in the Summer Olympic Games and earned titles in two weight divisions. Unfortunately, he’s had trouble securing major fights with Jermell Charlo, Jermall Charlo, Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin or Jaime Mungia. By moving up in weight, Andrade is hopeful that he can secure more high-profile, lucrative fights against David Benavidez, Caleb Plant or even Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
