Former Lightweight Champion Delfine Persoon has reportedly closed a deal to fight Ikram Kerwat on November 13, 2022 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The 10-round junior lightweight clash will be included as part of DAZN’s pay-per-view event featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr. and YouTube personality Deji Olutanji.
This is not the first time that Delfine Persoon has fought alongside Floyd Mayweather Jr. In May, she defeated Elhem Mekhaled by unanimous decision shortly before Mayweather Jr. fought his former sparring partner, Don Moore. Aside from her recent fights alongside Mayweather Jr., Persoon has put together a three-fight winning streak since losing to Katie Taylor by unanimous decision in August 2020. If she wins once more, she will reassert herself as the mandatory challenger for WBA 130-pound tltlist Hyun Mi Choi.
Persoon’s opponent, Ikram Kerwat, is coming off a win in March, but is 2-2 in her last four fights. Overall, the German fighter holds a record of 11-3 with five knockouts. She enters the bout as a massive underdog against the former lightweight champion.
