It appears that the world will be able to see Seniesa Estrada return to the ring this summer. ESPN has reported that Seniesa Estrada will defend her WBA strawweight title on August 6, 2022 against Anabel Ortiz. The bout is expected to air on DAZN as part of a primetime event headlined by Vergil Ortiz Jr.-Michael McKinson in Texas.
Estrada enters the fight with a 22-fight win streak. Along the way, she shared the ring with Ortiz on March 20, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. She dropped Ortiz in the first round en route to a unanimous decision victory. Since then, she has defended her title twice, once by decision and once by knockout.
Ortiz enters the bout with a record of 31-5 with four knockouts. Prior to March 2021, she enjoyed a 21-fight win streak that lasted nine years. Since losing her title to Estrada, Ortiz has unsuccessfully challenged Marlen Esparza for the WBC flyweight title.
