Dave’s Hot Chicken, a Los Angeles-based hot chicken chain backed by the likes of Drake and Samuel L. Jackson, has opened up a new location in the nation’s capital. Sitting on 14th Street in Columbia Heights, the newest iteration of the Nashville-style hot chicken chain sits inside a stylish Art Deco-era building formerly occupied by Z-Burger.
The Washington, D.C. location is one of two to open recently. The Nashville-style hot chicken chain has also invaded Bloomington, Indiana with a new location in Hoosier territory.
“Dave’s Hot Chicken is the exact right thing for Kirkwood Avenue,” Dan Bennett, the general manager of the newly-opened location, told the Indiana Daily Student.
“It’s a new, fast-growing and exciting concept.”
Dave’s Hot Chicken is one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the U.S. with 700 units in development as of last year. Moving forward, the company has plans to expand into the greater Hartford, Connecticut area.
“Dave’s Hot Chicken has one the greatest origin stories in the restaurant business, with the founders starting Dave’s as a parking lot pop-up restaurant in Hollywood with a portable fryer and picnic tables from their backyards just five short years ago,” the company’s CEO, Bill Phelps, said.
“The company’s nearly unheard of growth is a result of the founders’ vision for this brand, and the tremendous leadership team we’ve assembled to facilitate its growth.”
