Georgetown Hoyas point guard Dante Harris has announced he will transfer to the Virginia Cavaliers. It isn’t often that college basketball players announce their internet to transfer and pick a new program in the middle of the season. Harris will not be allowed to play with the team this year and will have three years of legibility next year when he officially joins the program. He entered the transfer portal on December fifth, visited the program, and committed just a few weeks later. While the team is focused on this year, it is good that the program will have more talent coming in next season.

Last season with the Georgetown Hoyas, Dante Harris averaged 11.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 37.5 percent and a three-point percentage of 27.5 percent. The Virginia Cavaliers did not have an immediate answer next year for the point guard position, but now Harris should slide right into that spot in the 2023-24 college basketball season for the program. Georgetown’s program has been declining for some time now and this is more bad news that indicates that things could get even worse.
