Change is coming to MSNBC. Deadline has reported that Craig Melvin will step back from his role as the host of Craig Melvin Reports. In the wake of his departure, a group of rotating hosts will fill in for Melvin until a permanent replacement is selected. Meanwhile, Melvin will focus his energy on NBC’s premiere morning show, TODAY. Previously, he has worked as an anchor on TODAY, a co-anchor on the third hour of TODAY and a correspondent during the most recent Winter Olympics.
Melvin leaving MSNBC for NBC’s TODAY is just one of the major shakeups at the network. Elsewhere, Stephanie Ruhle moved from the 9 a.m. ET hour to The 11th Hour at 11 PM ET. As she departs the morning block, Morning Joe will expand to a fourth hour on MSNBC. To top it all off, Rachel Maddow is stepping away from her on-air duties to work on a movie and a podcast.
Craig Melvin will make his official transition to his new role on April 1, 2022.
