Chuck Pagano said the benching had nothing to do with his health Davis was strictly benched due to play, something Davis disagrees with. Vontae claims he was disrespected by the coach and punished for his health.
Davis has struggled in recent years after being considered a top corner during the early stages of his career. He elected to have groin-surgery after getting a second opinion on the nagging injury and was released the following morning.
Davis still is expected to undergo the surgery which in turn will end his season. It is possible for him to be subject to waivers although it’s very unlikely someone will pick up an expiring contract with roughly $4 million on it.
Davis should have a number of teams interested when he is healthy this upcoming offseason.
