The Neighborhood is about to get a little bit bigger!
CBS is reportedly developing a spinoff of The Neighborhood with Marcel Spears and Sheaun McKinney leading the way. The new series will be teased during the parent series’ seventh season finale this spring. The spinoff will reportedly Spears’ character, Marty, and McKinney’s character, Butler, as they leave their parents’ home and begin a new life in Venice Beach.
The Neighborhood has reportedly produced not one, but two spinoffs. Elsewhere, Tracy Morgan is set to star in Grutch, a new series in The Neighborhood‘s growing universe that follows the cousin of the parent series’ lead character, Calvin Butler (Cedric The Entertainer). Kecia Lewis and Adrianna Mitchell have both joined the cast.
In the meantime, CBS will focus on The Neighborhood, which is set to return from its holiday break later this month.
“The new neighbours who moved into Miss Kim’s old house are keeping the Butlers and Johnsons up all night. Courtney tells Marty she is going on a date,” the next episode’s logline reads.
Episode nine of season seven will air Monday, January 27 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
