Columbia Pictures, Jack Black and Paul Rudd have identified the crew that will hunt (or be hunted by) anacondas in the rainforest.
Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Ione Skye and Selton Mello have reportedly landed roles in the recently announced reimagining of the 1997 film, Anaconda. While several details are being kept under wraps, early reports suggest the film will follow a group of friends in the midst of a mid-life crisis. As a result, they plan a trip to the rainforest in hopes of playfully living out their favorite movie, Anaconda. Instead, they find themselves finding for survival as natural disasters, deadly reptiles and aggressive criminals attempt to take them out.
The film is led by Jack Black and Paul Rudd, but they will also appear in the movie. Black will reportedly play a hopeful director who works a day job as a wedding videographer and Rudd will be an actor who feels his career is slipping through his fingers. Meanwhile, Newton and Zahn will portray the two friends attempting to get a piece of their favorite movie in real life while Skye portrays Black’s wife and Mello is an animal wrangler.
Production is expected to begin in the coming months with a targeted December 25, 2025 release scheduled.
