Cameron Diaz may be promoting her new movie, Back In Action, with Jamie Foxx, but some are already wondering may lie ahead in the actor’s career. During a recent press run, Access Hollywood‘s Emily Orozco asked the Hollywood star if she’d reprise her role in The Mask. While she didn’t outright say that she’d be down for another installment of the movie, she’s always willing to work with Jim Carrey.
“If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one,” Diaz said.
This isn’t the first time that another installment The Mask has been discussed. In December 2024, Carrey was also presented with the idea of bringing The Mask back for another run and he didn’t completely shoot it down either.
“Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea. If somebody had the right idea, I guess… It’s not really about the money,” Carrey told Comic Book.
“I joke about the money… But I never know. You can’t be definite about these things.”
Starring Carrey and Diaz, The Mask debuted in theaters more than 30 years ago. The comedy followed bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey) as he transforms “into a manic superhero when he wears a mysterious mask.” It was massive success, grossing $350 million per year. At the time, it was second-highest grossing superhero movie behind Batman.
