The Chicago Bears have traded the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers. In return for the number one overall pick, Chicago will receive the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the 61st overall pick in the draft, a first-round pick in 2024, a second-round pick in 2025, and star wide receiver DJ Moore. There was a lot of chatter around the Bears and they were expected to trade the draft pick for a haul of picks. Not only do they get that haul, but they also give quarterback Justin Fields a number-one wide receiver in the process.

Last season with the Panthers, DJ Moore caught 63 passes for 888 yards and seven touchdowns on 118 targets with inconsistent quarterback play. He also rushed the ball ten times for 53 yards and zero rushing touchdowns. The Bears were searching for a top veteran receiver to pair with Justin Fields this offseason, but will likely look to add more on offense around what they have now.

The Carolina Panthers almost certainly made this trade to draft the player they hope will be the next franchise quarterback in Charlotte, North Carolina. Who they draft is still up for debate at this time. There are four options with three being considered far more likely at this time. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud, and Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson all have a solid shot at being the top pick this year. While Kentucky quarterback Will Levis has also been in thise conversations, his star has dipped some in recent weeks.
