Michigan Wolverines’ senior quarterback Cade McNamara has entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer. He makes this move before the team’s game in the Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff appearance. He played sparingly this season after playing much more last season. Michigan focused on quarterback J.J. McCarthy much more this season and it became clear that McNamara was primarily a backup on the team now. There should be a fairly long list of teams interested in the services of the experienced quarterback who has played in the College Football Playoffs prior to his transfer.

In three seasons with the Michigan Wolverines, Cade McNamara completed 267 passes for 3,181 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 423 attempts. He also rushed the ball 46 times for three yards and two touchdowns. It was his second season in 2021 where he saw his most snaps and led the Wolverines to the College Football Playoffs. While the transfer news happened a little sooner than expected it was likely the right move for the upperclassmen quarterback. Teams will likely be lining up to recruit him to their program with the level of experience he has in college football.
