Netflix has unloaded the first trailer for Shonda Rhimes’ latest project, Bridgerton. The period piece tells the tale of two upper-class socials who fall in love. Along the way, the two find themselves in the middle of drama, feuds and much more.
“The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society. Inspired by Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels,” Netflix writes.
Bridgerton was inspired by Julia Quinn’s novel series and created by Chris Van Dusen. With Rhims leading the producing efforts, Julie Andrews will narrate the series. Adjoa Andoh, Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey and Claudia Jessie will play key roles in the series.
The new series marks a major moment in Netflix’s recent history. Bridgerton is the first offering after Rhimes reportedly signed a multi-year deal with annual payouts of approximately $10 million.
“Shonda Rhimes is one of the greatest storytellers in the history of television,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said.
“Her work is gripping, inventive, pulse-pounding, heart-stopping, taboo-breaking television at its best.”
Bridgerton will debut on December 25, 2020. To get ready for the latest series from Shondaland, watch the trailer below.
