LSU Tigers Head Coach Brian Kelly has decided on who the team’s starting quarterback will be to start the 2022 college football season. He has also decided not to reveal who that will be ahead of their first game against the Florida State Seminoles. Both Arizona State Sun Devils transfer Jayden Daniels or sophomore Garrett Nussmeier are expected to play during the season and perhaps even this game, but Kelly has not said who will start the season opener. The Kelly era at LSU starts on Sunday, September fourth at LSU against the Florida State Seminoles.
Brian Kelly said the QB battle has been decided at #LSU.
That said, he won’t announce the QB this week because he wants a tactical advantage vs FSU.
“It doesn’t help us to play that card.” Kelly said they won’t announce it publicly until game day.

When talking to reporters on Monday, Brian Kelly said the following about the decision not to reveal which quarterback would start against the Florida State Seminoles: “Everybody here wants to know who the quarterback is. I get that, but I think it’s a tactical advantage for us not to announce it. The advantage for us is that we haven’t played, so it doesn’t help us to give up any of our cards in that sense. This is a 1A and 1B. This is not a one and a two. And both of them are obviously going to contribute this year.”
Brian Kelly said #LSU has made a decision at quarterback, but he won’t announce it publicly to have a “tactical advantage.”

Brian Kelly is a talented Head Coach and built a great program with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but now he is coaching with the LSU Tigers in the SEC. Success and wins are incredibly important. The game against the Florida State Seminoles will be the beginning of a new era in LSU football.
