Mare of Easttown series creator Brad Ingelsby has signed an overall deal with HBO. This news comes less than two weeks after his hit limited series wrapped up on HBO Max. Starring Kate Winslet, the limited series scored great reviews with a number of critics and is poised to be a favorite at the Golden Globes. Not to mention, it is the most-watched limited series on all of HBO Max. Despite the success, Ingelsby is looking to create new projects and not create a second season of Mare of Easttown..
“If there was a world in which we were convinced this is a continuation of the story that honors the first chapter and does things an audience will appreciate, then maybe. But as of right now, I have no idea what that could be,” Ingelsby told the Hollywood Reporter about the potential of a second season.
Limited series like Big Little of Lies have earned a second season. However, that series is the exception, not the rule. Sharp Objects, Watchmen and The Undoing all stopped after one season.
Ingelsby has not provided any insight as to what his next project will be, but he has experience working on The Way Back, Run All Night and American Woman.
