This weekend, fight fans will have a ton to enjoy! In the world of mixed martial arts, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) will kick off on Friday. One day later, the world of boxing will take the wheel as welterweight contender Alexis Rocha fights in California on DAZN. To cap things off, unified light heavyweight champion Champion Artur Beterbiev will defend his titles against Anthony Yarde.
There are few fighters with more power in their hands than Artur Beterbiev. The 38-year-old Russian fighter has won all 18 of his pro contests by knockout. Most recently, he stopped Joe Smith Jr. in two rounds to capture the WBO light heavyweight championship. Now, he will return from an injury and take on Anthony Yarde.
Yarde may be an underdog on many sportsbooks, but he is far from an inexperienced challenger. Hailing from Hackney, he has put together a pro record of 23-2 with 22 knockouts. Despite suffering his only knockout loss in his last title bout, he is confident that things will be different this time around.
“I wouldn’t really know what I’m made of if I hadn’t been through certain losses,” Yarde told BT Sport.
“If I hadn’t been through certain trials and tribulations. It’s a blessing. Look at the stages I’ve been in boxing.”
Today, Yarde and Beterbiev will take to the scales ahead of their highly-anticipated showdown. Check out the live weigh-in below.
