Well, Atlanta fans, I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that, according to TVLine, FX has already renewed the series for a fourth season. However, the bad news is that means we’re not getting a third season for some time as both seasons are now scheduled to begin production in the spring. Both seasons will consist of eight episodes.
No doubt part of the reason why the production on seasons 3 and 4 are being scheduled to occur together is the growing profile of each cast member. Obviously, Donald Glover needs no introduction to most people, having starred in both The Lion King and Solo over the last year and a half. But Atlanta definitely introduced the world to the likes of Zazie Beetz, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Lakeith Stanfield.
Beetz, in particular, has had a career explosion in the wake of Atlanta, starring in an episode of The Twilight Zone revival and Deadpool 2, with a role in Todd Philips’ The Joker later this fall. She was even the subject of a Def Pen feature back in March, which you can check out here!
Eric Schrier, entertainment chief for FX, released a statement regarding the renewal: “What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul, Dianne, Stephen, and Hiro have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television. This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners.”
Production on seasons 3 and 4 of Atlanta is slated for next spring.
