Head Coach Penny Hardaway and the Memphis Tigers have landed the commitment of 2023 three-star power forward Ashton Hardaway. He is the son of Head Coach Penny Hardaway but did hold offers from other top programs. While the Memphis Tigers and playing for his father was always the likely option, he did hold offers from the Kansas Jayhawks, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Boston College Eagles, and several other programs. He should be a recruit that plays all four years for the program and his father. While he may not be a starter as a freshman he could be a valuable player later in his college career and still provide depth his first season.
Breaking: Ashton Hardaway, a four-star forward in the class of 2023, has committed to play for his father, Penny Hardaway at the University of Memphis.

Ashton Hardaway is currently a composite three-star recruit, but he has been moving up the rankings this season and ranks as a four-star recruit on some sites. The Memphis class joining him so far in 2023 is loaded. The players joining him include but are not limited to five-star combo guard Mikey Willaims, four-star small forward JJ Taylor, and four-star point guard Ty-Laur Johnson. Hardaway will get to play for Memphis and his father when he gets to college and a shot at the NBA is not impossible for him.
