Washington, D.C. continues to push forward with its emerging R&B scene. Earlier this year, Alex Vaughn signed with LVRN. Shortly thereafter, Vaughn joined Ari Lennox as a performer at the 2022 Broccoli City Festival. Now, Ari Lennox is carrying the torch and preparing to release her sophomore album, age/sex/location. Over the weekend, the Dreamville artist announced that she would release the project on September 9, 2022.
Ari Lennox has not yet released the complete track list for the forthcoming project, age/sex/location, but she has revealed that “Hoodie” and “Pressure” will appear on the LP. Dreamville President Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad has also mentioned that she worked with Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri, Bryan Michael Cox and Pharrell over the last year or so.
“She…She hit a wave recording. She’s in it right now. It’s just incredible. People see that she’s [been] in [the studio] with Missy [Elliott], Jermaine Dupri, Bryan Michael Cox and Pharrell. She got in with all the right people,” the Dreamville Records President told Kazeem Famuyide of Say Less.
More recently, Ari Lennox told VIBE that she hopes that age/sex/location will show a more “evolved” and “aware” side of her personal growth.
“I think [on] Shea Butter Baby, I romanticize a lot of things in life. I feel like I was very naïve about a lot of things about romance, about myself, about career, life, whatever, and I feel like I’m just more aware now, more evolved, [and] more not putting up with certain sh*t I don’t like,” she explained.
age/sex/location is set for release on September 9, 2022. Until then, fans can enjoy her latest single, “Hoodie.”
