Aquaman, DC’s newest feature film splashes into the theaters this December and after two long years of production, the film has finally finished a timely month before its premiere. The comic book films director James Wan (Furious 7 and Saw) took to Instagram earlier today to announce the declaration of the wrapping up of the strenuous production.
Laced with CGI and taking place partially in the deep underwaters it makes sense that the movie took soo long to finish. Perhaps this was also why the trailer was delayed for soo long as well. It undoubtedly takes an ample amount of grind and effort to get films visuals to look believable. With one of the first films to use CGI for all its underwater scenes, Aquaman has a big world to fill. Fueled by the fact that Justice League was critically and commercially panned for its poor CGI, its good that James Wan is taking his time to see his vision come to fruition.
Wan seems to be wanting to make his imprint in the DC universe by having a completely different visual scheme for his movie. Wan aims to make a bright adventure film rather than the dark direction Snyder introduced the character in. We can see this in the bold and vibrant colors from the recent Aquaman trailers, which point toward an action-packed adventure spectacle for your eyes. With all this change and the assurance that DC has taken its time on this film with no ‘reshoots‘, I am definitely looking forward to and hopeful for Aquaman.
Aquaman hits theaters on December 21st, 2018.
