Amazon has reportedly partnered with the Seattle Seahawks to open three more “Just Walk Out” concession stands at Lumen Field. The newly opened “Just Walk Out” locations allow fans to purchase products without having to stand in a checkout line. Instead, fans are charged using pre-registered forms of payment after Amazon determines what has been taken out of the stand.
“We look at Lumen Field, which turned 20 years in July of this year, and look at these fan innovation opportunities and partnerships, like with Amazon, as critical to progress fan experience at the stadium,” Lumen Field General Manager Zach Hensley told Forbes.
“Our goal is to get fans back in their seats as quickly as possible. These technology solutions serve that option best for us.”
This is not the first time that the Seahawks and Amazon have embarked on such an endeavor. At the start of the regular season, the tech giant opened up its first “Just Walk Out” location at the field. Similar technology has also been utilized at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
“[The stores] are particularly effective on busy game days because they reduce congestion, keep fans moving in and out of stores quickly,” Jon Jenkins of Amazon told Forbes.
“They ensure fans don’t miss any key moments of the action they’ve come to see.”
The newly launched “Just Walk Out” stations were launched at Lumen Field on November 27, 2022 and will remain through the season.
