Changes are coming to the way sports broadcasting is done. Within the last few months, Apple has worked to acquire MLB regular season games and is rumored to be on the hunt to acquire ESPN. Meanwhile, Amazon is reportedly pursuing Al Michaels as their lead announcer for Thursday Night Football broadcasts. Now, the New York Post is eyeing Super Bowl Champion Marshawn Lynch for a studio show that would accompany the Thursday Night Football broadcast. The potential program is described as “a more relaxed studio-type show, as well as conducting interviews.”
Lynch is no stranger to television. Beyond his appearances on NBC, CBS, etc. as a football star, he’s contributed to FX’s The League, FOX’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine and HBO’s Westworld. Not to mention, he recently appeared on ESPN’s Manningcast with Peyton and Eli Manning.
Amazon has not commented on the matter as of yet, but it has not been shy about making it known that they are interested in strengthening their sports programming moving forward.
