Head Coach Chris Beard and the Texas Longhorns have landed the commitment of 2023 top 15 recruit and top three combo guard AJ Johnson. He was the last uncommitted five-star recruit in the 2023 class and one of just a few uncommitted top 50 recruits. Johnson has “one and done” goals and has the talent to back those goals up. He committed to the Texas Longhorns over the LSU Tigers and some other programs. Texas has become a powerhouse once again under the leadership of Head Coach Chris Beard.

Texas is no stranger to five-star talent and the 2023 recruiting class is no exception. AJ Johnson joins 2023 top ten recruit and top three power forward Ron Holland. Texas will compete for some talented four-star recruits and top transfers in the spring to add to their roster next season. This season and next season the program will expect to contend for a National Championship. After next season both Johnson and Holland will declare for the 2024 NBA Draft.

Chris Beard has made the Texas Longhorns once again a top program and with him leading them they should compete hard for Big 12 and NCAA Championships. AJ Johnson should come into the program, make an impact, and then head off to the NBA after his freshman season. Texas is a top option for making the NBA and soon Johnson will be yet another player t make that leap.
