If a marathon is what this upcoming adidas Tokyo EQT Support 93 is looking for then lets prepare to run several miles. Considering this is the second time the EQT has been inspired by Tokyo, it appears this time around they will be apart of the “Marathon Series”. Now with it being a series we should already know more are to follow inspired by other countries, hopefully.
Looking very good from these official pictures provided by adidas they also issued an official press release which breaks down the inspiration behind them. Check out the information below and down in the comments let us know if these will be a DEF Cop or DEF Not.
adidas Originals releases the ‘Marathon Series’ – an EQT Support 93 pack story inspired by iconic adidas silhouettes created during pivotal sports moments around the world.
The first release in the ‘Marathon Series’ is the Tokyo EQT Support 93, a reimagined classic in an updated colorway inspired by the 1964 Tokyo summer games. The Tokyo EQT Support 93 is captured in a visual tour of the Tokyo marathon route, captured by photographer Brock Fetch and highlights local Japanese streetwear influencer Shigeyuki Kunii from Mita Sneakers.
The Tokyo EQT Support 93 is directly inspired by the Tokyo 64, a shoe specifically built for Robert ‘Bob’ Lee Hayes – an American athlete who dominated the 100m competition during the 1964 Tokyo summer games. Equipped with the most innovative footwear at the time, Bob Hayes managed to win two gold medals in both the 100m dash and 4x100m relay race.
The Tokyo EQT Support 93 features a distinct suede blue upper inspired by the original design, gold accents and national flag of Japan on the heel. The Tokyo EQT Support 93 will release on February 27 at [adidas.com/Originals]adidas.com/Originals and select retailers. The Tokyo EQT Support 93 will retail for $150.
