Head Coach Mick Cronin and the UCLA Bruins have landed the commitment of 2022 top 20 recruit and top-five center Adem Bona. While the five-star recruit had several offers it came down to the UCLA Bruins and the Kentucky Wildcats. Bona has some “one and done” potential, but for now, it may be a bit too early to declare him for the 2023 NBA Draft. For now, he joins a blue blood program with a rich history of college big men.

Five-star center Adem Bona has committed to UCLA. Chose the Bruins over Kentucky.
No. 17 overall in 2022, No. 4 center. Elite defensive player with a developing offensive game.
Second five-star commit for UCLA, joins Amari Bailey and Dylan Andrews in the Bruins’ 2022 class.

Adem Bona will come into a UCLA roster next year that is likely to have a high rate of roster turnover. He is likely to be a day one starter on the roster with his size and talent. Bona and fellow five-star Amari Bailey should be a dynamic PAC-12 duo during the 2022-23 season. Head Coach Mick Cronin is great at maximizing his player’s talent.

The UCLA Bruins have struggled with staying relevant for years, but it seems like the Cronin era has changed that at least for now. Luring in five-star recruits like Adem Bona is a good sign for the long-time Blue Blood program. For now, UCLA will focus on capitalizing on its success last year after making the Final Four. Bona will head to the UCLA roster in the Fall of 2022.
