Activision Blizzard has officially confirmed their purchase of Major League Gaming aka MLG. MLG is the home of competitive gaming. From shooters to fighters and occasionally sports games. The best of the best sign up for MLG every year to compete solo or with their teams for huge cash prizes. Activision wont be making any changes to the MLG operations, but they will take it to new heights as they set out to create the “ESPN of eSports”.
Mike Sepso, co-founder of MLG, who’s now the Senior VP of Activision Blizzard Media Networks shared a few words via statement about Activision’s MLG acquisition.
“Sundance [DiGiovanni] and I founded MLG to highlight the incredible talent of competitive gamers all over the world,” said Sepso. “Activision Blizzard’s eSports leadership, incredible intellectual property and long history in competitive gaming create a perfect home for MLG’s capabilities. The acquisition of MLG’s business is an important step towards Activision Blizzard Media Networks’ broader mission to bring eSports into the mainstream by creating and broadcasting premium eSports content, organizing global league play and expanding distribution with key gaming partners.”
