Pharrell is set to kick off his third annual Something In The Water festival. After taking his show on the road to the nation’s capital in 2022, he will bring the event back down to his home state of Virginia in 2023. Produced by IMGoing and Live Nation, the three-day festival will feature a star-studded lineup of musical performances from Lil’ Uzi Vert, Lil’ Durk, Lil’ Wayne, Kid Cudi, Jazmine Sullivan, Wale, the Clipse and many others. Not to mention, Pharrell will take the stage with a collection of special guests. The musical performances are the main attraction, but Something In The Water is anchored year in and year out by community-based activations.
Civil rights organization the Urban League of Hampton Roads has joined forces with the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Arts (VMOCA) to host A Seat At The Table: An Arts & Culture Experience. Held at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art on April 27, 2023 at 6-11 p.m. EST, the event will bring together the creative visions of internally renowned talents Kara Walker and LaToya M. Hobbs. Not to be forgotten, VMOCA in-house artists Amber Pierce, Poetry Jackson and Nadd Harvin will bring their creative endeavors to the forefront for the world to see.
“Hosted by Q5, live music will be provided by Fortresses, DJ JOFROXI and FAKE UZUMI. In addition to curated sonics, a panel conversation will be moderated by Stephanie Walters and feature prominent community figures discussing the importance of supporting the BIPOC agenda while simultaneously elevating their voice,” a piece of the event’s description reads.
Tickets for the artistically impactful experience are set at $25 for general admission and $75 for a VIP experience. Additional information regarding A Seat At The Table: An Arts & Culture Experience can be found on the Urban League of Hampton Roads’ website.
