
Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix and Marvin Harrison Jr. have been selected as Heisman Trophy finalists.
Daniels will attend this year’s Heisman Trophy presentation after wrapping up a memorable regular season campaign. In his second season as the starting quarterback at Louisiana State University (LSU), the former Arizona State standout completed 72.2% of his passes for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns while throwing only four interceptions. On the ground, he picked up ten touchdowns and 1,134 yards on 135 rushing attempts.
Daniels was not the only transfer to find success in his second season as a transfer. At the University of Washington, Michael Penix Jr. threw for 4,218 yards and 33 touchdowns while leading the Huskies to a perfect record and a Pac-12 Championship. Not to mention, he finished averaging a career-high of 9.1 yards per completion.
To win the 2023 Pac-12 Championship, Penix Jr. had to dethrone Bo Nix’s Oregon Ducks. However, Penix Jr. nor the Washington Huskies was able to stop Nix from throwing for a career-high 4,145 yards and 40 touchdowns. Nix also completed 77% of his passes and ran for six touchdowns.
Standing alone as the only receiver to secure an invite to New York, Marvin Harrison Jr. finished his regular season campaign with 1,093 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 17.6 yards per reception.
The 2023 Heisman Trophy Award will be presented to Nix, Daniels, Harrison Jr. or Penix Jr. at 8 p.m. EST in New York, New York on Saturday, December 9.
