2022 NCAA Tournament: Elite 8 Day Two
The first half of the 2022 NCAA Tournament Elite 8 was perhaps not as exciting as some were hoping they would be. Houston could not hit a three to save their tournament lives and Villanova clinched a spot in the Final Four. Duke used a phenomenal second half to bury Arkansas and also clinch their spot in the Final Four. Today’s two games feature interesting matchups with historic implications. First up were the one seed Kansas Jayhawks taking on the upset-minded ten seed Miami Hurricanes. Then the eight seed North Carolina Tar Heels tipped off against the historical 15 seed St. Peter’s Peacocks. All four teams were looking to punch their ticket to New Orleans and the 2022 NCAA Final Four.
One Seed Kansas Jayhawks Vs. 10 Seed Miami Hurricanes
If college basketball was only 20 minutes the Miami Hurricanes would be headed to the Final Four right now. Unforutently for them that is not the case and basketball has a second half. Miami went into halftime up 35-29 and looked ready to knock off the lone remaining one seed. A flat start in the second half would only get worse as the Kansas Jayhawks found their rhythm on both ends of the court. The Jayhawks would go on to outscore the Hurricanes 47-15 in the second half of play. Turnovers and poor shot selection did the Miami Hurricanes in against Kansas.

This one was not close from almost the beginning. The North Carolina Tar Heels got out to an early lead and did not look back. A magical run by the Saint Peter’s Peacocks will come to an end in the 2022 NCAA Tournament Elite 8. Head Coach Hubert Davis has led the Tar Heels back to the Final Four in his first season leading the program. Armando Bacot led the team against the Peacocks with 20 points and 22 rebounds. Now focus shifts to the Final Four where the team will play the Duke Blue Devils for a shot to play in the 2022 NCAA Tournament Championship.
