With NBA All-Star weekend on the horizon and the opening weekend of Black Panther underway, it only feels right to have more #BlackExcellence to spread into the world. Yesterday, the Top Dawg Entertainment crew released the visuals for the second single off the Black Panther soundtrack, “King’s Dead”. The track, which is thought to be a single off of Jay Rock’s next project, features Future and King Kendrick.

The visuals, which feature Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Future, are some of the most unique in recent memory. The video begins with Kendrick Lamar sitting in a palm tree eating, followed by Jay Rock eating in a tree and later Future pops up in a Wolf of Wall Street type stock room. Needless to say, this video is better seen than explained.
The only thing that was missing from the visual was a guest appearance from James Blake, who is credited with contributing to the record. The video ultimately ends with 90’s style footage of Jay Rock in a homemade documentary about him rising to the top. Hopefully, this won’t be the last visual from the feature film’s soundtrack. Will we get a visual for Schoolboy Q’s and 2 Chainz’s “X” or SOB x RBE’s “Paramedic”? Only time will tell.
