Recently, the world of entertainment has mourned the death of a few influential musicians, actors and superstars. Over the last two weeks, we have lost the likes of Mac Miller, Dudley Sutton and Burt Reynolds. Unfortunately, we must now add the Peter Donat of the growing list of creatives to pass away over the last month.
Donat, originally from Canada, passed away at his home in Point Reyes, California at age 90. The preliminary cause of death are complications involving diabetes. The Canadian actor got his start in acting through small roles on Canadian television before receiving his breakout role on the Broadway play, The First Gentlemen. Donat was best known for his role as Agent Fox Mulder’s father on The X-Files. Donat also appeared on popular shows like The F.B.I., Hawaii Five-O, Mannix, McMillan & Wife, Hill Street Blues and Murder, She Wrote. Donat also appeared in The Godfather II.
Donat is survived by two sons, two stepdaughters, a stepson, eleven grandchildren; and his brother, Richard, who is also an actor. A private funeral for the long time actor will be held in the coming days. Our prayers and wishes are with the Donat family during this very difficult time.
