
Issa Rae is expanding her business portfolio.
On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Rae became a part-owner of San Diego FC, an expansion team joining Major League Soccer (MLS) during the 2025 season. Rae says she looks forward to “building something that represents and uplifts [the] vibrant community [of San Diego, California].”
“Joining San Diego FC’s ownership group is an incredible honor, and I am thrilled to be part of building something that represents and uplifts this vibrant community,” Rae said. “Soccer is a universal language that has the power to bring people together, and I look forward to contributing to San Diego FC’s journey as we make history in MLS.”
Not only is Rae joining the club’s ownership group, GRAMMY Award winner Tems is joining the team as well. On Wednesday, February 12, Tems became a club partner.
“We are delighted that Tems has joined San Diego FC as a club partner,” San Diego FC Chairman Sir Mohamed Mansour said. “Tems is a globally significant artist who will help us to reach new audiences and spread the word about our unique project, which of course has its foundations in sub-Saharan Africa through the unique Right to Dream organization.”
San Diego FC will begin its inaugural season as a member of the MLS on Saturday, February 23, 2025 at 7 p.m.
