As quiet as it has been kept, 2018 has been a phenomenal year for J. Cole’s label, Dreamville. Earlier this year, Cozz dropped his latest project, Effected. With features from J. Cole, Curren$y and Kendrick Lamar, the project was well received throughout the world of rap. Jackson Howard of Pitchfork wrote, “Effected is Cozz’s third project since being signed to Dreamville, but it’s the 24-year-old’s most significant: He mixes skits, big-name features (Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Curren$y), and high-concept self-examinations (the five-minute “Demons N Distractions”).” Later in the year, Dreamville CEO, J. Cole, released his latest album, KOD, which is well on its way to going double platinum with no features. Not to mention, the first ever Dreamville Festival has been set for September 15th, 2018.
Today, another rapper from the Dreamville camp is joining in on their incredible run. Bas has released his newest record, “Boca Raton”, featuring A$AP Ferg. Produced by Sango, the record features a summertime, beach vibe that fits with the title of the song. Bas raps, “I’m out in Boca Raton/I’m sipping Roca Patron/I got this chick on the phone/Talking ’bout life and how I just ain’t for her, I been inclined to agree/’Cause all I been doin’ is me/Now I can’t be your one baby girl, nah/But I play the two or the three now.”
