The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed many things at Netflix. From postponing a season of Sex Education to letting go of shows like The Society, few things have been released when they were intended to be released. As things slowly reach a new normal, Netflix is hoping to bring a sense of normalcy back to streamers. In a video message to investors, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos indicated that new seasons of You, The Witcher and Cobra Kai will be released later this year.
“What happened in the first part of this year was that a lot of the projects that we’d hoped to come out earlier did get pushed because of the post-production delays and Covid delays and we think we’ll get back to a much steadier state in the back half of the year, certainly in Q4 where we have the returning seasons of some of our most popular shows like The Witcher and You and Cobra Kai as well as some big tentpole movies that came to market a little slower than we’d hoped like Red Notice and Escape From Spiderhead,” Sarandos said.
After a transition from Youtube Premium to Netflix, Cobra Kai released a new a season in January. At the time of its move, the show’s creators assured that a fourth season would be coming soon. Meanwhile, You and The Witcher took off 2020 and resumed production in early 2021. Right now, there are no specific release dates locked in for any of the three shows.
