Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia’s XFL has altered its television schedule. On March 16, 2023, the Houston Roughnecks will play the Seattle Sea Dragons at 10:30 p.m. EST on ESPN instead of FX. Nine days later, the Seattle Sea Dragons will play the Orlando Guardians at 1 p.m. EST on ABC. Two days later, the undefeated DC Defenders will host the undefeated Houston Roughnecks at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN.
Television ratings for the current iteration of the XFL “remain low,” according to Sports Media Watch. In week three, games averaged approximately 571,000 viewers, a decrease of 13% from the previous week. However, Sunday afternoon’s St. Louis Battlehawks-DC Defenders showdown drew a record 665,000 viewers, making it FX’s most-watched game this season.
Heading into week four, the Houston Roughnecks are set to play the winless Orlando Guardians in Orlando, Florida. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Brahmas will travel to Seattle and the St. Louis Battlehawks will look to bounce back against the Arlington Renegades. Lastly, the Vipers will travel to Audi Field for a Sunday night matchup under the lights. Saturday’s matchups are set to air on FX while both of Sunday’s matchups will be broadcasted on ESPN2.
