The former cast member last hosted the show in January 2018. Before that, he hosted in 2005, 2009, and 2012. Ferrell will be the first of two major cast alums returning to host this season. Eddie Murphy is slated to make his Studio 8H return to round out the year on December 21st.
With his fifth time hosting, Ferrell joins rarified air as Tom Hanks, Dwayne Johnson, Tina Fey, Drew Barrymore, and John Goodman, among others, are all members of the Five-Timers Club. By the end of his career, Ferrell will do doubt become one of the show’s most prolific hosts. But, he still has a lot of ground to cover if he wants to catch Alec Baldwin, who’s hosted the show a record 17 times and counting.
Harry Styles is slated to pull double duty as the host and musical guest of the show’s November 16th episode. Then, catch Ferrell as the host alongside King Princess as the musical guest on Saturday, November 23rd.
