Packer Shoes & Sneakersnstuff Present: TOKEN38 (Look Book) from Packer Shoes on Vimeo.
NBA All-Star weekend for the most part is a time of year where a select few of the most distinguished, skilled and highly recognized players from around the league come together under one building (two this year) to put on one of the greatest annual shows for their respective teams and fans alike. It’s a time of year where players who compete against each other for close to 3/4th of the year band together as teammates, sharing laughs and pleasantries all for the sake and appreciation of the fans of the sport they play, lovingly. Many celebrate the presence of the players that participate in game, but one must take a step back to analyze what got them there to that point… Becoming a successful NBA player takes hard work, preparation, sacrifice and dedication, but the want for this success all stems from having a genuine love and passion for the sport each player grew up with. This is the exact same love and passion that have brought Packer Shoes and Sneakersnstuff together for this project – the shoes (n-stuff).
Token 38 by Packer Shoes & Sneakersnstuff is not a project that is built off of wanting to showoff for the sake of creating a meaningless collaboration. This whole thing came about due to two retailers who above everything else share a love and passion for footwear which created a bond and genuine friendship resulting in creating a partnership to do some dope s*** while having a little fun at the same time. The Packer/SNS Token logo is inspired by the original NYC subway token, and serves as a ode to the classic New York we both have come to love over the years while also being a representation of two parties from separate walks of life sharing the same commute to fulfilling our life long passions in footwear and sports.
When exploring the idea of a joint pop-up location in conjunction for this years All-Star game, it was only right for us to partner up with companies who we both have been great supporters over the years but also fit the mold and spirit of the Token 38 project.
Reebok has a long standing heritage some of the greatest basketball and performance training silhouettes ever created, many stemming from the golden era of basketball’s popularity, the 1990’s. From their archives we were grateful enough to be able to lend our own creative reinterpretation of the Reebok Shaq Attaq, Kamikaze II, Question Mid and Pump Fury.
