The third time was the charm for the University of North Carolina. After the Boston College Eagles ended the Tar Heels’ season two years in a row, the ladies from Chapel Hill, North Carolina came up big when it mattered most.
On Sunday afternoon, the University of North Carolina’s women’s lacrosse team teased out a one-point victory en route to the 2022 national title. While the Tar Heels entered the match with an undefeated record and were betting favorites, winning this year’s title was not easy. First, the Tar Heels had to come back to beat Northwestern in the semifinals. Then, the squad from Chapel Hill had to hold off not one, but two runs from Boston College’s Charlotte North. Ultimately, the Tar Heels did what they do best – finish strong.
With a win on Sunday, the Tar Heels improve to 49-1 in their last 50 matches and 57-2 in their last 59 matches.
