Despite the organization saying they were going to focus on winning this season, the Memphis Grizzlies have made it blatantly apparent that they are aiming for that top lottery spot heading into the 2018 NBA Draft. They have lost 22 of their last 23 games including a stretch where they lost 19 in a row. So when they faced off with the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night, a loss was anticipated but not to this magnitude.
Kemba Walker exploded for 46 points including 10 made three-pointers in only 28 total minutes of action. Walker and other Hornets starters didn’t see the fourth quarter because there was no need. When it was all said and done, the Hornets eviscerated the Grizzlies by 61 points. Memphis became the sixth team in NBA history to lose by 60 points, the first since 1998.
So how did the Grizzlies take the loss? It was reported that some were seen immediately after the game laughing and joking in the locker room but no one was actually recorded doing so. But one player did indeed speak out after the blowout. Soon-to-be free agent Tyreke Evans said the Hornets were laughing at them on the court. Following the Grizzlies insane loss to the Hornets on Thursday night Evans labeled the game as embarrassing.
Grizzlies guard Tyreke Evans after historic loss: "They (the Hornets) were out there just laughing. It was embarrassing. The whole thing." https://t.co/fa13tZZgvp
