Less than a week after the PRhyme 2 was released alongside DJ Premier, Royce Da 5’9 is back with more heat. This time, the Detroit emcee delivers bars alongside Dreamville CEO, J. Cole. Royce’s new record, “Boblo Boat”, is an ode to the old steamboats that would take Michigan residents to Boblo Island Amusement Park. Royce reminisces on his childhood when raps,”Uh, on our way to that black amusement park/Wood roller coasters, crack sold on plastic scooter cards/Uh, smokin’ grass at the vintage food court/Broken glass, waitin’ on you on the swimming pool floor.”
On the second verse, J. Cole follows up the first verse reminiscing about his childhood. J. Cole raps, “We had no Boblo boat, but I could note those times is like a Bible quote/BC, before cellphones, the first time I would smoke
I was 6-years-old, but that’s for another chapter/That’s for another story, to God be the glory/I made it out unscathed and now I sunbathe with my son and Tanzanian sunrays thinking ’bout dumb days/Thinking ’bout dumb days.”
“Boblo Boat” is the first record off of Royce Da 5’9’s upcoming Book of Ryan project. It’s also unique in that it is the sole feature of the project. Stream Royce’s new record below.
