Tyler, The Creator sits atop the charts yet again. In its first week, the Los Angeles native’s latest album, Chromakopia, has moved 299, 500 units in its first week.
“300k. on a monday morning. thank you to every listener,” he wrote on Instagram.
The 52-minute effort features GloRilla, Lil’ Wayne, Daniel Caesar and more. Thus far, it’s earn positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Heven Haile of Pitchfork called it “an electric, revealing, and perennially odd journey back into his aging psyche.”
“What he can claim for certain now is an ascendant position in the rap hierarchy,” NPR’s Sheldon Pearce wrote.
“Once a niche internet oddity and experimental coming-of-age tale, he emerges on CHROMAKOPIA as not simply the next great hip-hop auteur, but a bona fide star, whose flexes can include a star-studded stadium listening event and off-cycle Monday drop (which likely won’t disrupt his string of No. 1s despite the limited tracking period: The projected first-week haul nearly doubles his previous album’s showing).”
Tyler, The Creator will take Chromakopia on tour with Paris Texas and Lil’ Yachty beginning February 4. The first leg of his North American stint will run from February 4 in St. Paul, Minnesota to April 1 in Washington, D.C. before heading out to Europe from April 25 to May 30. Ultimately, the tour will come back to North America from June 27 to July 17 before heading down to New Zealand and Australia.
