Tremaine “Trey Songz” Neverson, Kevin Liles, Atlantic Records and 300 Entertainment are the focus of a $25 million lawsuit.
The woman, identified in court documents as Jane Done, filed a lawsuit against the singer in November 2022. However, the lawsuit was dismissed after the entertainer’s lawyers argued that the accusations were “past the statute of limitations.”
Months later, the lawsuit has been refiled with three new defendants, Liles, Atlantic Records and 300 Entertainment. Jane Doe’s attorney, George Vrabeck, claims the new parties were added to the filing because they turned “a blind eye” to the singer’s alleged actions.
“This case is much more than about one singer and one viciously abused sexual assault survivor who has the courage to take action,” Vrabeck said.
“It’s also very much about the systematic sexual abuse in the music industry and the music industry’s complicity in silencing sexual abuse survivors. It’s virtually impossible to believe that those executives are not and were not aware of the institutionalized sexual abuse.”
According to the lawsuit, Jane Done claims that she attended a party with the singer in West Hollywood nearly seven years ago. The two adults left the party and went to a private hotel room. Initially, the alleged victim was under the belief that the two would engage in consensual sexual activities as they had done previously. However, Trey Songz allegedly knocked her to the ground and began sodomizing her against her will. Jane Doe says she cried out for help, but the singer ignored her and continued. After the alleged incident, she went to a nearby hospital for sexual assault counseling and medical assistance.
In the months after the alleged incident, the woman says the singer and his associates harassed her. As a result, she ended up moving to a new state. However, she claims one of the singer’s associates found her in her new location and told her to “keep [Trey Songz’s] name out her f*cking mouth or he’d kill her.”
“Lies will never be the truth. No matter who chooses to believe such,” Trey Songz seemingly responded to the accusations levied against him.
Throughout his career, Trey Songz has been the focus of a number of lawsuits and accusations regarding his treatment of women. Actor Sarunas Jackson, actress Keke Palmer and social media personality Dylan Gonzalez are among a number of public figures who have accused the singer of everything from threatening women with physical harm to rape.
