Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce may be focused on helping his team win Super Bowl LVIII, but he’s not oblivious to the announcement his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, made last week.
“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that,” Swift said moments after winning Best Album at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
“I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans. So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you! Thank you!”
Swift may not be releasing the album for another two months, but Kelce got a sneak peek before heading to Las Vegas, Nevada this week. As he puts it, the GRAMMY winner’s next project is “unbelievable.”
“I have heard some of it, yes. It is unbelievable,” Kelce told reporters.
“I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops.”
Kelce isn’t taking his eyes off the prize yet. After Swift won the biggest prize at the GRAMMYs, he hopes to match her by winning the biggest prize in American sports.
“She’s unbelievable. She’s rewriting the history books herself,” he continued.
“I told her I would have to hold up my end of the bargain and come home with some hardware, too.”
Kelce will have an opportunity to bring “some hardware” home for a third time when the Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
