Earlier tonight, the Golden Globes elected to honor actress, comedian and entertainment icon Ellen DeGeneres with the Carol Burnett Award. With nearly three decades of outstanding work, an award is hardly enough to recognize her contributions to entertainment. Joining her in being honored for lifetime achievement is Tom Hanks. The iconic actor traveled out to the award show tonight to to retrieve the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

Hanks has long been a fixture in entertainment since he stepped on stage for a performance of Hamlet in Lakewood, Ohio back in 1977. Since then, he’s taken on iconic role in Toy Story, Apollo 13, The Green Mile and Cast Away. Most recently, he shined in The Post, Toy Story IV and Mama Mia! Here We Go Again. With all of that under his belt, he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
In 2020, Hanks will play a part in films such as Greyhound, News of the World and BIOS.
