While everyone sits on pins and needles with hopes of finally snagging a pair of the self-lacing powered Nike MAG which was expected by many to drop today being October 21, 2015, it looks like a curve ball was thrown into play. Taking to twitter, Michael J Fox who played Marty McFly, shared an open letter from Tinker Hatfield himself to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Back To The Future but at the same time the anniversary of the Nike MAG. In the letter as you can see the first pair of self lacing Nike MAG that was reportedly in New York City is actually making its way to Fox as we speak or as the letter states his pair should be with him shortly.
Another interesting point is that Tinker touched on the fact that more pairs are being generated but kind of hints or at least I believe that the pairs with self lacing will be auctioned off just like the 2011 pair which raised close to 10 Million Dollars for his Michael J Fox foundation. He wants to raise more money which will benefit the foundation in 2016 which again hints at the sneakers being released in 2016. While the MAGs appear to be releasing in 2015/2016 there certainly isn’t a timetable for a more public release and auction may be our only hope as of right now.
If you do want a piece of the Back To The Future the Nike Bruins by NIKE LAB are releasing so that may be your best bet if you are a true Back To The Future fanatic.
