Looks like its almost time to start purging again as USA Network’s
TV series based on the popular films is gearing up to start production on its second season. They started off Friday by announcing Derek Luke, Max Martini, Paola Nuñez, and Joel Allen as new series regulars for the second season.
Based on the films of the same name, The Purge follows the events of a 12-hour period in an alternate America when all crimes are legal. The first season followed an ensemble cast of characters across the same city as they all dealt with their own terrifying Purge experiences. The series looks set to be an anthology of sorts as the second season introduces a new cast of characters dealing with the Purge.
In the new season, Derek Luke will play Marcus Moore. Moore is an accomplished white-collar worker whose life is turned upside down by an assassin on Purge night. Max Martini is set to play Ryan Grant, an unassuming man who meticulously plans a huge heist every year on Purge night. Paola Nuñez will play Esme Carmona, a standout employee who has spent her life trying to spot and tag criminals. Finally, Joel Allen is attached to play a young man named Ben who goes out on his first Purge night.
Not much is known about the plot of the upcoming season. There were some hints given at the end of season one but a lot was left up in the air. Production on season 2 should be starting soon if it hasn’t already started.
