As the Puma brand continues it’s onslaught on the NBA sneaker world, they have added an additional established talent to their budding roster.
In an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report, Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier announced he has agreed to sign his shoe deal with Puma after being a sneaker free agent for his first three seasons in the league.
B/R Kicks: Everyone is going to want to know the same thing. Why Puma?
Terry Rozier: Me signing with Puma is basically letting you know, I’m taking over the Puma world. You got guys taking over Adidas, you got guys taking over Nike, whatever. I’m competing with the Puma world and I’m taking over that s–t. From the jump. That’s my whole thing. I feel like I’m going to turn it up because—I ain’t gonna knock nobody on Puma, but I feel like I’m very marketable, I’m the guy that they needed to sign.
Terry Rozier will now join veteran San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay as the two elder representatives on Puma’s list of signees. Though Rozier is only entering into his fourth year as a pro, he is much more experiences than most of Puma’s other basketball athletes.
The brand also inked four first-round picks from this year’s NBA Draft: the Kings’ Marvin Bagley III, Suns’ Deandre Ayton, Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr., and 76ers’ Zhaire Smith. On top of this, they also agreed to a lifetime contract with NBA legend Walt Frazier.
Rozier will bring an interesting dynamic to a Puma roster oozing potential. Though he’s currently a backup with the Celtics, Rozier has a unique flair in his game that should attract customers as Puma continues its quest to become one of the bigger sneaker brands in basketball.
